Welding and Advance Fabrication
About the Program
Students in the Welding and Advanced Fabrication program will gain hands-on experience starting in their freshmen year with exposure to welding techniques and a range of career options within the field. Curriculum over the course of four years will include techniques for heavy construction welding; joining pipe sections for oil and natural gas pipelines; shipbuilding and preparation for work in industrial environments (power plants, refineries, chemical plants, manufacturing facilities); structural steel welding and working as an ironworker, and writing technical reports related to welding projects. Students will have the opportunity for a variety of SLE (structured learning experiences) with partners around the county, from job shadowing to paid internships, and will work towards certifications offered by the National Center for Construction Education and Research and the American Welding Society.
