Apprenticeship Program
The purpose of the County Apprenticeship Program is to stimulate and assist students, youth, and adults in accessing apprenticeship training programs in which workers learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation.
Eligibility:
Apprentices and their employer-sponsor complete an apprentice agreement, which is sent to the U.S. Department of Labor and the N.J. Department of Labor and Workforce Development for registration approval. Upon successful completion of the required OJT, as specified in the approved work process, and successful completion of the related theory instruction, the apprentice will receive an Apprentice Completion Certificate from the U. S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.
Apprenticeship programs are sponsored by joint employer and labor groups, individual employers, and/or employer associations. Individual applicants for apprenticeship programs must be at least 16 years old and meet the program qualifications. Generally, applicants must satisfy the sponsor that they have the ability, aptitude, and education to master the rudiments of the occupation and complete the related instruction required in the program.
