Pre-Practical Nursing Program

This 12-week course will offer students an introduction to our Practical Nursing Program. Students who pass this course with a minimum grade of 78 and who are absent no more than 2 sessions will not be required to retake the PN entrance exam and can register for the August 2016 day program or September 2016 evening program. Space is limited in both the Pre-PN and PN course. The student must have taken the pre-entrance exam (TEAS V) prior to entering the pre-practical nursing program. Time missed from class (lateness, leaving early, etc.) will be factored into the attendance policy. Students will be graded via tests (50%), quizzes (25%), and a final (25%).

This course is not a prerequisite for the Practical Nursing (PN) program, rather a class geared toward the student who is looking to be introduced to and be better prepared for the PN program, as well as for students who did not pass the PN entrance exam. Acceptance into the pre-practical nursing program is at the discretion of the program coordinator.

Students should purchase the most recent editions of the following textbooks:

  • Fundamentals of Nursing: Christensen & Kockrow
  • The Human Body in Health and Illness: Herlihy
Mondays & Thursdays 5:45pm-9:45pm 25 sessions
