Introduction to Dental Assisting

This course is designed to give the student an introduction to the field of dentistry and dental assisting, plus entry level skills for an uncertified dental assistant. Upon completion of this course, the student will have developed the skills to meet the minimum entry level skill requirement for a dental secretary, dental receptionist and dental chairside assistant. Course outline will include Chairside Assisting, Dental Anatomy, and Office Procedures. Office Emergencies along with CPR and First Aid Certifications will be included, but the CPR and First Aid Cards must be purchased from the instructors for an additional $10.00 per set.

Mondays 6:30pm-9:30pm 12 weeks/36 hours



Dental Radiology Course

This course is designed to prepare working dental assistants for the New Jersey Dental X-ray Examination and is approved by the New Jersey Bureau of Radiological Health. The x-ray course I open to those with prior knowledge of dentistry and they are responsible for seeking out an office to complete their clinical hours. Course content includes exposure and evaluation of radiographs, film processing and mounting, radiation protection and safety, nature and properties of x-rays, quality assurance and much more. Students will also participate in lab experiences and clinical hours on patients in an approved dental office. Clinical hours are completed upon completion of State Board Examiners Clinical Competency Evaluation Requirements. If you have any questions call Mrs. Coslop @ 609-625-2249 ext. 1316.

Prerequisites & Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. must accompany application. (Foreign students must contact Student Personnel (x 1212) prior to application.)
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Employed as a working dental assistant in New Jersey so that your employer will allow you to complete the mandatory clinical hours in your office. ACIT is not responsible for your clinical hours.
  • Must be of good moral character.
  • Must meet with instructor before first night of class to sign moral character form.
  • Class time requirements of 3 Hours @15 Weeks = 45 hours. Clinical hours are completed upon completion of State Board Examiners Clinical Competency Evaluation Requirements.

Dental Assistant Infection Control Course DE1G02

This course is designed to prepare the working Dental Assistant for the Infection Control component of the National Certification Exam. This course will include: performing sterilization procedures, environmental asepsis and maintaining aseptic condition, prevent cross contamination and transmission, patient health care education and occupational safety.
