Exercise Science and Sports Medicine
Exercise Science & Sports Medicine
Program Overview
In the Exercise Science & Sports Medicine program, we empower students to transform their passion for health and human performance into a rewarding healthcare career. Combining scientific instruction with immersive, practical training, our curriculum explores the human body from structure and function to the anatomy, biomechanics, and biochemistry of human movement. Students gain a deep understanding of medical terminology, the musculoskeletal system, nutrition, and disease pathophysiology while mastering real-world skills. Through dynamic classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory work, students learn to evaluate athletic injuries, master taping and wrapping techniques, design integrated exercise and weight management programs, and master industry-standard fitness equipment—all while building essential employability and critical thinking skills needed for college and career success.
Our comprehensive program opens doors to a diverse range of high-demand career pathways, preparing students to become group fitness instructors, personal trainers, athletic trainers, or rehabilitation specialists. Beyond the classroom, eligible students are encouraged to engage in valuable work-based learning opportunities, including local job shadowing and off-site internships that offer direct industry experience. Upon completion, graduates are uniquely positioned to earn their high school diploma alongside industry-recognized technical certifications, and college credits—giving them a competitive advantage whether they choose to enter the healthcare workforce immediately or pursue advanced degrees in health science and sports medicine.
