District Artificial Intelligence Plan
I. Establish District A.I. Policy
● Utilize Strauss Esmay Associates policy guidelines to establish official district policy(2365 -
ACCEPTABLE USE OF GENERATIVE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI).
II. Update Student Policy and Citation Guidelines
● Rename and update the "Plagiarism Compact" to the "Student AI/Plagiarism Compact" to align with
policy guidelines.
● Establish a standardized format for students to properly cite or document content generated from any
AI platform.
○ Citation Standards: Require students to cite AI usage according to MLA, APA, and Chicago
styles, and complete disclosure statements detailing how AI was incorporated into their process.
○ Professional Development: Provide PD training on these standards to all instructional staff.
○ Acknowledgment Process: Require students and parents to formally acknowledge the
compact annually through three steps:
1. In-Class Review: Students review and discuss the compact in English classes to ensure
equitable access to information.
2. Parent Registration: Parents/guardians digitally acknowledge the compact during
start-of-year registration.
3. Email Confirmation: Students email a copy of the compact to their families (CCing the
teacher), review it with them, and confirm notification via reply email.
III. Review and Approval Procedures for AI Tools
● Establish a clear process to review, approve, and monitor AI tools, addressing concerns such as
academic integrity, bias, inaccuracies, copyright/licensing, privacy, and equity of access.
● Review Protocol: New technology will be evaluated with the Technology Evaluation Checklist using a
trained Gem. If it passes this initial review, the technology will be passed on to the AI PLC and
supervisor for further evaluation.
IV. AI Integration 2026-27
● Focus:
○ Address emerging trends regarding AI integration in education and society.
○ Oversee staff professional development and plan/policy communications with families.
○ Regularly review and audit approved AI platforms used for teaching and learning.
● Integrate the stoplight continuum of Student AI Integration to set clear AI expectations from teacher to
student on every assignment.
● Follow the school integration timeline and guidelines, digital literacy conversations and agreements,
according to grade level and continue to build AI literacy with integration.
● Continued professional development for staff through the AI PLC
V. Prohibited Uses of AI
● Prohibit any AI usage that violates Policy 2365 – Acceptable Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence
(AI), Policy/Regulation 2361, or the Code of Student Conduct. Forbidden actions include:
○ Using AI outside the explicit conditions set for a given assignment.
○ Submitting AI-generated work as one's own authentic work.
○ Generating misinformation or creating content intended to harm, bully, or intimidate others.
○ Inputting confidential student or staff personal information into AI systems.
VI. Consequences for Policy Violations
● Enforce administrative consequences in accordance with the Student Handbook following due process.
○ Standard Disciplinary Actions:
○ Conference with student to discuss the occurrence and discussion about next steps
○ Teacher contacts the parent/guardian.
○ Teacher reviews the incident severity and may assign a grade of zero.
