Since the school’s inception at its present site in Mays Landing in 1974, ACIT has been a shared-time facility. Under that concept, students receive their technical training here at ACIT for a half-day and their academic classes at their home high schools.

While the Academy concept appears to be the wave of the future, the vast majority of the students still attend on a shared-time basis. The school offers many traditional technical programs such as auto technology, building technology and cosmetology, but has also added new courses to keep pace with the technology available in the workplace. The HVAC/Plumbing department has articulation agreements with Lincoln Technical College and the auto technology program has an agreement with Camden County College.
