ACIT Health Occupations Students Win State Contests

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Students in the Atlantic County Institute of Technology’s chapter of the Health Occupations Students of America ( H.O.S.A.) captured a total of seventeen medals in the state competition held on April 5 and 6 at the Burlington County Institute of Technology.

HOSA Winners

Stephanie Kramer captured a gold medal in the Knowledge Test Pharmacology competition. Stephanie is from Egg Harbor Township. Renee Goolden & Alison Wells won their medals in the CPR/First Aid contest. Renee resides in Hammonton while Alison hails from Egg Harbor City. All three students are in the Practical Nursing Program at ACIT. By winning gold medals, they earn an opportunity to compete in the national competition in Dallas, Texas in June.

ACIT had four silver medalists. Joseph Stafford for Extemporaneous Speaking, Nikki Tornatore for her Extemporaneous Health Poster, Justina Harbright in the Personal Care category and William Heine for Knowledge Test Nutrition.

Three students won bronze medals, Amber Roman in Extemporaneous Health Poster,  Danielle Sharpe for Interviewing Skills and Andrea Rizzotte in First Aid/Rescue Breathing

Fourth Place awards went to: Lisa Nguygen for Medical Assisting, Samira Jenkins for Dental Spelling and Kim Vu for her Extemporaneous Health Poster.

The following students earned Fifth Place medals: Stephanie Cortes in Dental Assisting, Kate Palumbo for Researched Persuasive Speaking, Juan Vincente for Medical Terminology/Abbreviations and Jessica Quiles for Medical Terminology.
