ACIT Daffodil Dinner 2008
MAYS LANDING, N.J. – The Academy Advisory Board of the Atlantic County Institute of Technology (ACIT) held its sixth annual Daffodil Dinner on March 27 at the Carriage House in Galloway Township.
The dinner featured the creations of Corporate Chef George Galati. He also helped, along with the ACIT chef instructors, to supervise students from the ACIT Academy of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management who spent three days prior to the event preparing the multi-course meals in the Carriage House kitchen.
This year’s event honored two individuals who have been vital to the success of ACIT’s Academy programs. Cormac Morrissey is a partner with Dixon Associates, a prominent engineering firm based in Atlantic County. He is a charter member of the school’s Academy of Math, Engineering and Science Advisory Board. His advice on the formation of that Academy was invaluable and, in addition, he has spent countless hours assisting the staff and students in the program with his expertise.
Also honored was the Vice President of Community and Employment Initiatives at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa Eric Reynolds. Eric has a long history of community involvement in Atlantic County. He has been a member of the ACIT Advisory Board since its inception. His advice and support have been large factors in the success of the ACIT Academy programs. Under his leadership, The Borgata has provided valuable internship, job shadowing and employment opportunities for the Academy students.
The Academy programs commenced in September of 2000 and include high school students from throughout Atlantic County who are studying for careers in prestigious industries. The proceeds of the dinner will benefit student activities for the Academy students.
