To be considered for the Atlantic County Alternative High School, students must be referred by their sending district guidance counselors. The sending district pays the tuition and transportation costs for the students to attend the ACAHS. Parents/guardian approval and support from the sending district are needed for applications and enrollment. The ACAHS is a program designed for students who are failing, have already failed their subjects, and/or are in danger of dropping out of school because of poor attendance.
Student selection is based on the following criteria:
- Potential for success
- Motivation to succeed
- Student/Parent Interview
