Basic Home Repairs & Improvements I * BT1G01

Are you tired of no one returning your calls?  Is a repair at your home too small to receive any attention? Is there something about your home you want to change? With this class you can take on those small projects/improvements that no one wants to, and learn how to tackle small repairs before they get worse. Learn how to extend the life of certain appliances/mechanicals.  The class will consist of verbal information/instruction, with hands on projects. Topics will include but are not limited to: work safety practices, tool identification and usage, drywall (patching and spackling), windows/doors, caulking (interior/exterior), tile/grout, masonry, minor plumbing, minor electrical, minor carpentry (framing/finish), roofing/siding, flooring, painting, kitchen and bath. Basic Home Repairs & Improvements II *
(prerequisite: Home Repairs I)
BT2G01

Although this course will advance upon Basic Home Repairs I, it is not a prerequisite. This course will continue to build the student's overall knowledge and confidence in taking on most home improvement projects. Topics covered in this course will include but are not limited to: vinyl siding installation and repair, interior finish carpentry, flooring, light framing and laminate countertops. Students will be exposed to and taught the proper usage and maintenance of power tools used throughout the construction industry. Have a question about something not listed? Plumbing I * BT1G11

First Semester of a two-semester course. Includes repair, installation, and maintenance of piping, fixtures and fittings. Theory and hands-on practice will be included.

Plumbing II *
(prerequisite: Plumbing I)
BT2G11

2nd semester of a two-semester course. Plumbing Systems Design and Installation Part 2 and Plumbing Services. Career Development and Plumbing History including repair, installation, and maintenance of piping, fixtures and fittings. Theory and hands-on practice will be included.

 
Mondays & Tuesdays 7:00pm-10:00pm 12 weeks/72 hours

 

 

HVAC - Air Conditioning & Refrigeration I * BT1G21

First Semester of a two-semester course.  Learn air conditioning installation and service. Work on systems, conducting pressure testing, recovery and charging, read control diagrams and wire your own system.  Work on icemakers, walk-in boxes and even a showcase. You will work with regulations that relate to the air-conditioning and refrigeration industry.

2nd semester of a two-semester course. Plumbing Systems Design and Installation Part 2 and Plumbing Services. Career Development and Plumbing History including repair, installation, and maintenance of piping, fixtures and fittings. Theory and hands-on practice will be included.

Advanced Troubleshooting & Wiring for HVAC *

2nd semester of a two-semester course. Learn Air Conditioning installation and service. Work on systems, pressure testing, recovery and charging, read control diagrams and wire your own system. Work on icemakers, walk-in boxes and even a showcase. You will work with regulations that relate to the air-conditioning and refrigeration industry.

Also includes preparation for EPA Section 608 Test

Electrical Trades I * BT1G31

Basic residential wiring: tools, power and hand, theory, trade info, blueprints, wiring diagrams, wiring techniques, lighting and appliance circuits, hands on applications.

Electrical Trades II *
(prerequisite: Electrical Trades I)

Covered in this course is basic training in appliance circuits, advanced branch circuit wiring, special purpose applications, electrical service, National Electrical Code and hands on wiring.

NEW Black Seal License
 
BT1G41

This prepares a student for the Black Seal License examination including high and low pressure boiler operations, starting from the very basics of boiler operator mechanics. Please note: this is a 12 week course that will address all aspects of Black Seal Operations.

Requirements: To be eligible for the Black Seal License examination, the student /applicant must have at least three (3) months experience as a helper, apprentice, trainee, or assistant to a licensed Black Seal operator. Also, the student/applicant must be able to produce, upon request, a boiler room log book with his/her identified name in the log book for licensure application.
